Have a small case with only one 80mm fan. Will the q6600 work ok with the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm w/ no oc. Will I have to worry about heat? or should I go with the e6850. these will both be overkill but thats ok I just want to know which would be better speed wise and which will be tollerable on heat? There will be no oc on either

You may well need more air circulation for overclocking but you should be fine at stock, maybe even a slight overclock.

since you dont plan on overclocking, unless you absolutely need the cores for crunching, encoding, or 3d rendering, I would get the E6850. more speed and less heat.

your two main concerns are speed and heat...so its very easy

1. speed= E6850 wins here...eventhough the q6600 has 2 more cores...those cores will almost always remain idle...unless you're encoding video and doing a lot of animation editing.

2. Heat= E6850 wins again here...its known that the q6600 spews out more heat...especially with the older BX version.

The only reason I would suggest that anyone buy the q6600 is if they wont be able to upgrade for another 3-5 years...otherwise the E6850 is clearly the better choice...especially when your not overclocking.

oops...forgot my specs...its only fair u know where i stand...lol...i dont overclock either...and i plan on making my system almost completely silent...in the process of selecting a good heatsink for the push/pull config.
