Hey guys

I just purchases a Gigabyte X38-DQ6 to go along with my Q6600 B3.

I have a Scythe Ninja B and an Nexus 120 fan running at 12V (1050 RPM) in an Antec P-180 (with 2 additional Nexus 120 running as the top and rear exhaust fans). I used Artic Silver 5 on the heatsink

My idle temps are 40-43 and load temps are 50-55 using speedfan 4.33 (i think this is the rev)...are these temps good...my concern is that the idle may be a bit high (as i have seen other users with 35ish idle)...and the Ninja may not be seated properly, as i tried to shake the Ninja to see if anything is loose, and it appears firm

Any comments on the idle temps?

Kevin

Use CoreTemp to get your temperatures before you trust SpeedFan. SpeedFan is sometimes off by 15C, CoreTemp on the other hand should be exactly right.

You are possibly running into the same problem I am... IP35-E, Q6600 B3 and this thing roasts at default voltage. Tuniq Tower - AS5. Remounted twice 'just in case' and this SOB is running too hot. 50-55 idle (core temp) and SpeedFan reports 40ish idle... Under load, I hit 85c, near the shutdown limit. I probably am chalking it up to a very poor IHS at this point.

Speedfan should have no issues with correctly displaying the temperatures of a B3. Its the G0 that are (still) off - I know mine is. For those using Vista x64, coretemp is often not an option because it doesnt work (at all).

Speedfan is 15c low with my B3 as well..some people claim to get coretemp working in Vista, but I haven't been successful.

OP your temps are pretty high for stock speed. With my ninja, I was hitting 85c at 3ghz. It can be tricky to get those stupid push pins in place. How much paste did you use? Too much can be as bad as not enough..

yep, i tested the new speedfan and its WRONG. 15c to low, your actual temps are 55c idle, 65c load. Get core temp and compare the two. Let us know the results please. you will probably find, that like me, you will be disappointed in the results. i should have gone with the e6850 until nextgen came out. Whats 270 bucks when your going to trash it anyways in a few months.
