Can someone clarify the price disparity between the costs of Q6600 and the Q6700 processors?? Besides the clockspeed, what specific characterisitics warrants the cost of the Q6700??

That's it, clock speed. Other than the multiplier, as noted above, they are the same chip.

The Q6700 is a waste of money in the vast majority of cases.

Don't count on high OC's out of Q6700. OCs are always a luck of the draw. True, you are a little more likely to get a higher OC out of a high binned chip like the Q6700, but in OCing, nothing is guaranteed. If you're on any kind of budget and planning to OC, given a choice between the two, the Q6600 is really the only choice.

Q6600 is G0 stepping(less heat and power draw) with a maximum multiplier of 9.
QX6700 is B3 stepping (more heat and power draw) with an unlocked multiplier.
QX6800 is G0 stepping(less heat and power draw) with an unlocked multiplier.

I believe that is correct.
