OK....we've got both a Q6600 and an E8400.

The Q6600 is a known good OC'er, having achieved 4GHz on 1.5V and can run 3.6GHz all day long on 1.34V. (Batch is L745 with a VID of 1.275v.)

4GHz run on the Q6600.......CPU-Z.

The E8400 is an unknown quantity as it's never been plugged into a motherboard at all. (Batch is Q813A131.)

One has to go, one stays.

We don't video edit at all.....we do game but more of the strategy, turn based type game...no FSP's.

Rig consists of ASUS Maximus Formula mb, 4 x 2GB Mushkin Redline DDR2 RAM, Radeon HD4850 video card, and the usual assortment of hard drives, opticals, etc. The system is watercooled, if that makes any difference.

:)

Damn, if you can have that Q6600 at 4 ghz, I'd keep it without looking back. :)

Yeah, kinda what I was thinking, too. Bird in the hand vs. one in the bush sort of thing..........

Now to find a way to dispose of this E8400..........

civilization saga?

Or is it RTS?

if its supreme commander, you want to keep the quad.

if its civilization your hooked on, a P3-800 could run that.

For once im going to recommend to keep the quad! If you are getting 4ghz on safe temps and voltage, you have won the CPU lottery....enjoy!
