I need help selecting mobo for q6600 cpu but that will also work with Penryn (later after price decline).

The system is more for work and not gaming...AutoCard, Microstation, & other cpu intensive apps and the system will drive 2 x 30" monitors.

I'm currently looking at the ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38

Would you recommend this mobo or other?

Thanks for your suggestions :)

Yes, with 14 BIOS. See my 1st post at Abit IP35-E review (MB forum). Note that if you kill the power to your PSU (no standby power to the MB), then MB will double post on the 1st start to reset strap. This is a specific issue unique to the Intel P965 and P35 chipset.

Do other P35 boards from Ausus, Gigabyte, etc also have this issue?

Would the Abit board be better or the ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38 to drive the 2 each 30" monitors at Recommended Resolution 2560 x 1600?

Also, should I go for a Quadro FX 3500 or 800GT a graphics card for the intended use of this system? The Quadro price is out of sight ~$800 vs ~$300 for 8800gt. The 8800 is more for gaming..??? correct??

Thanks :)

Yes, it's a chipset limitation related to strap setting.
