Q6600 temps question

I got my Q6600 on saturday and since then, the temps on my second core (core #1), has always been lower than the others. For example my temps right now are 45,42,44,45.

Is this normal or should I be worried about it?

That's normal. Don't be worried about it.

Are those your idle temps? At stock?
(if yes then that is something to worry about)

yes those are my idle temps at stock with a arctic freezer pro.....

if it means anything, i live in a tropical climate (near the equator)

what? mid 40's is fine idle temps on a Q6600 as long as it's not in a 20c ambient or something crazy like that.

Yup, your temps are fine considering your ambient. Having 4 cores reporting is going to mean that you are always going to have one or two that are out of whack compared to the others...this is normal.

The only way to bring them more into line is to lap the cpu...and considering your ambient temp, this may not be a bad idea.

What temperature monitoring software do you guys use? I used Coretemp untill someone recommended switching to RealTemp because it was more accurate? Any votes on what software to use.

I'm about to lap my Q6600. What I've found odd is how, running full loads on all four cores, sometimes

#1 = #2 > #3 = #4

and sometimes

#1 = #4 > #2 = #3

Probably a software issue, and this is only a couple of C, but I'm baffled. It isn't simply random fluctuation, as I see
these two modes and never any of the four patterns like this.

use both of them and compare. I believe that on the q6600 they both give the same temps. on 45nm quads realtemp is more accurate, but coretemp now allows you to introduce an offset to tjmax to put it where it belongs. realtemp does show the correct vid on both of my 45nm quads, however, while core temp shows both of them over .1v too low.
