Q6600 Stock Heat Sink+Fan Too Loose! 57C

I need help with the plastic twisting things. I hear and "snap" and a clicks when I push all four pins into the motherboard but every once in a while it will come loose and the CPU will shutdown.

My CPU idles at 57C and its way too hot... Twice the whole Heat Sink Fan unit CAME OFF in the box!

Can anyone give me tips to secure it correctly with the unintitive intel stock fan mechanism? I even watch the video instructions on intel, makes it look like easy as pie but I cannot secure it!!!!

Intel is absolutely fail at heatsink mounting. The best thing for you to possibly do would be to get a bolt through kit. It's much easier to deal with and will keep the heatsink on securely compared to the pushpin mounting mechanism. However, if you get a bolt through kit, you might as well just go all out with an aftermarket heatsink.

make sure they are rotated the proper way, if you have your board outside check to see when you turn the plastic parts there should be a black thing poking through which will secure it

what you are describing is when there is no black thing and the cooler is free to come off

Or just get the Thermalright Bolt thru Kit and loose the stupid mounting mechanism that Intel uses. It costs something like 5 $.
