i've heard of guys having issues with this processor and mobo combo. im currently at a stable 2.7 (300fsb x 9) but i dont know how much more i can go without it getting too hot.

my VID happens to be pretty high... 1.3125

and at 2.7 my vcore (bios) is at 1.4 already.... CPUID reads it at 1.45

idle temps are ~43c.

memory is at 5:6 ( 4x 1gb Hyperx PC6400) @ 2.1v and 4-4-4-12-1t

i guess what i'm asking also is i have 2 8800gt's in SLI....how much do you think my processor is bottlenecking. and is it worth upgrading to a evga 780i (which i heard is a much friendlier quad oc'er) mobo....and possibly getting a 3rd 8800gt. used mostly for gaming...as do you think i could get the q6600 up to a ~3.15ghz range. would that still be bottlenecking 2 8800gt's? how bout 3 8800gts? thanks.

the games you play can stress one thing over the other ; like GTA4 will need more cpu power, so what we want to know is: WHAT GAMES ARE YOU PLAYING

several things: you can't have three 8800 GT's in Sli, they only support 2 way. Unless you mean the G80 8800 GTX...

Your VID is pretty high, may be unlucky there. Is your system stable? What cooling are you using? Idleing at 43C isnt so good, may need better cooling.

I would go ahead and get a good cooler, then stress test it, and up frequency until failure or temps are too high. If failure but still low temps, up Vcore a bit more, and possibly NB Voltage, until stable again. For vcore, stay under 1.5 V. Not sure what the NB specifications are on that board. Oh, if you are successful and reach higher FSB's, you may have to up VTT.

You need to upgrade to bios 1403, people were only able to hit 2.8-3.0 before the update. Now they are reporting 3.4+

i have upgraded bios to 1403. is the VID dependent on the motherboard or the processor. like...if i got a new motherboard would my VID possibly go down? im also having trouble with audio crackling/popping while playing World of Warcraft. this game is not very graphics stressing i know. i have 8800gt's in SLI. when not in SLI it does not audio pop. dunno whats going on there. all drivers are up to date.
