I have an opportunity to be able to swap my e8850 CPU with a q6600. Is it a worthwhile swap? The 6850 has a FSB of 1333, the q6600 is 1066. Would the q6600 with its 4 cores and larger cache be faster in general than my dual core e6850 even tho my dual has faster cores but only 2? I mainly game. Thanks.

unless your game of choice is Supreme Commander, it would be a lateral jump at best, and a minor drop at worst. Not worth bothering with.

If you're a SupCom nut, though, jump on the opportunity.

Second what Jax said. Also, since you have a P35 mobo, you could always upgrade to one of the (higher end) Penryn Quads in the future & benefit from more cache, lower temps, etc.

Edit: Nice system, btw

Thats what I figured. I think I will stick with the 6850, I get a decent OC on it now and will wait for the higer quads when I feel I need to (probably be a lot cheaper too). Thanks guys, and thanks for the compliment oldhoss. :) She's my baby.
