Q6600 on 975X?

I currently have an MSI 975X motherboard and am upgrading to a Q6600 from an E6600 (it was practically a free upgrade so it was a no-brainer). Has anyone tried overclocking Kentsfield on 975X? My board has been pretty good at overclocking so far (can do 1600MHz FSB, maybe more) but the 975X chipset is pretty dated. I saw some results on a Bad Axe 2 and they sucked but then again I heard Bad Axe 2's just sucked in general.

I wasn't able to get over a 390 FSB on a 9x multi with a BX2 motherboard and as far as i975x goes and quad core I hear that is good.

I'd highly recommend getting a middle range price vs performance P35 motherboard. Below is a good comparison of quite a few P35 motherboards across all price ranges.

Naturally, get one with all the features you desire. Most of the P35 motherboards seem to be solid performers and there is not a lot of range between them.

Abit, Gigabyte, Asus, DFI and MSI all have solid offerings.

The D975XBX2 Bad Axe 2 is a good solid mother board. It is one of intel's 1st motherboards they made for overclocking and even had a well put together presentation on how easy it was to overclock w/ this board. I use it and I easily hit 3.2ghz on my Q6600 (B3) on air which seems like the norm for the Q6600. The range for B3 seems to be between 3.0ghz and 3.4ghz on air which is going to depend heavily on the ambient temps of the room the computer is in.

I'm very happy w/ the D975XBX2 and would buy it again for a 2nd computer.
