Yes, and the comparison of 500hp civic outperforming a porsche 911 for same price is irrelevant to me. People dont just buy a porsche 911 for raw numbers. If you wanted pure straight line acceleration, you'd buy a mustang and drop a supercharger. Overclocking is completely different in that no one cares how:
1) your processor looks
2) what it sounds like at full load
3) how much does it increase your status and attractiveness in the eyes of ladies
4) if it gets you special treatment like valley parking
Overclocking is getting as much speed as you can for as little $ as possible. In other words, I would be perfectly happy with a 3.4ghz air cooled Q6600. With overclocking one should always consider price/performance. In any event,
1) you can easily run Q6600 OC + 8800GTX on that corsair PSU, nevermind GTS.
2) I am not sure how accurate it is to try to figure out top peak of the power supply by taking its efficiency and multiplying it by its wattage since that implies the wattage rating is accurate to begin with. We know that power supply makes often underestimate or overestimate the wattage ratings. In the case of the Corsair, it seems the former as it easily handled
518.9 watts in output power at 81.3% efficiency. Any other manufacturer would have rated this PSU way above 520.
