I m getin 8 gigs gskill pc2-8000 memory nd abit ip35e Mobo
Confused abt the proccy
Mine main moto Is Virtualization thru VM Workstation nd MS Virtual Server
I wud ocing any of the processor choosed
Plz help me out of this

So what wud be faster for Virtualization
( wud be running upto 6 Exchage server machines) an Oced q6600 or E8400

nd also plz mention the reasons for choosing the specific Processor

W/ that many instances of Exchange you'll be better off w/ a Quadcore to help spread the load however in this instance your I/O subsystem is most likely more important than what chip you use.

Definitely, especially since they're all going to be virtual.

however in this instance your I/O subsystem is most likely more important than what chip you use.

No doubt about it, some SAS disks are in his future, assuming this server is going to be used much.

running exchange on a VM is probably not that great an idea either.


i would go with quad for a VM and a lot of ram. a slower quad > faster dual is probbly better too, as if you are running a lot of VMs they arent necessarily all running at 100% utilization anyway but itll be smoother with more cores.
