q6600 core position

Hi all. I remember reading on this forum that the cores for the quad were aligned something like so:

0 1
2 3

but being noobish I can't figure out the reference point. So if I'm looking at my quad with the notches at the top and the slightly raised bit are like so ---|, which way do I rotate those numbers? Thanks.

I'm surprised Intel wouldn't rotate one wolfdale die 180 degrees relative to the other one just to better distribute the heat across the IHS surface.

im fairlly sure there stacked when mounted on the board like this:

that would mess up the C4 bumps...
