Q6600 bottleneck

I can't decide whether to go with the E8400 or Q6600 on my next gaming/3d editing build. I'm going to go with the Gigabyte P35-DS3L or something similar with a 9800 GX2 on a 24" monitor.

The Q6600 would be nice for faster renders, but I don't want it to limit my GPU. If this is the case, would overclocking to 3GHz help? I'm open to other suggestions as well.

as ice said, i dont think you'll be bottle necked.

However overclocking to 3ghz will most definitely help in anything you throw at it. On either chips.

Q6600 should overclock to 3.2-3.4ghz. After that, you'll have no problems.

Get an efficient cooler for it though like Xigmatek S1283 or S1284, Thermalright Ultra, Tuniq Tower 120 or something similar.

PS. Dont buy the 9800 X2. With new ATI cards and Nvidia cards to be out on June 16-18th, it makes sense to wait imo. If anything, you can pick up a 9600GT for the time being and step up with EVGA or something.
