Q6600 B3 D975XBX2 need help getting past 3.2 ghz on air
Currently I am running at full load at 3.2ghz at the following temps:
57°c
55°c
57°c
52°c

Current settings in Bios on my Intel D975xbx2:
ram 266/533 2.2v (pc 6400) 4-4-4-12 (same issues if at 5....)
1.2875v core
1.3v FSB
1.55 MCH/ICH
9x356

I can run prime for 24hours on this setting and Orthos never gives me trouble either. memtest is fine as well for about 12 hours then I stop it.

now going past 3.2ghz... even 3.25ghz is giving me issues and my temps are still in the 50's on load... I have even put my core volt at 1.4v and I still get prime95 errors w/ in a few min to an hour...

Any advice would be appreciated...

BX2 is not a great overclocking board. One forum member was stuck around 3.2-3.4GHz until he switched to IP35-E. After some minor changes in BIOS, he was able to run 1M SP @ 4.0GHz. His 6600/GO chip could also be much better than your chip.

as you see I have a B3 so that's apples/oranges... I have seen the BX2 q6600 B3 get past 3.4ghz on water... I'm just trying to get past 3.2ghz...

Need to increase VNB voltage and you should have no problems getting to a higher fsb. 420x8 should be very doable.

Also Vcore will need to be around 1.4v for 3.4 ghz.

For intel board you can not lower the multiplyer and for Intel boards what is the equivlent for VNB... the FSB voltage or the MCH/ICH....

So I tried 3.3ghz at 1.55v, 1.5v fsb, 1.55v MCH/ICH and I would get a Prime95 error w/ in 1 min...

Use bios 2203, and look under EIST.

There is a new bios 2792 for my board, I'm going to try it out.... if it doesn't work I'll try the 2203 if I can find it.

Doesn't really matter, they usually need a ridiculous amount of voltage to get anything past the 3.0-3.2 range that you wouldn't be able to it cool easily. Even then, most chips can only squeeze out another 100-200 Mhz.

I decided to try w/ EIST off on my current bios settings to try to keep the Vdrop from happening... anyone else have this off?

Neither EIST nor C1E has anything to do with Vdroop; Vdroop is going to happen whether you like it or not (unless you have that ASUS board where people are modding it, but that's not necessarily a good idea).
