Hello. I could use some help regarding OCing my pc.

my settings are

  • FSB: 313
    Multi: 9
    VCORE: 1.2
    DDRV: 2.3v
    Timings: 4-4-3-10
    Memory Speed: 475
    All spreadspectrum disabled
    All other voltages stock.

This yields 2.8GHZ or a paltry 400mhz OC. This works fine and is stable after 24 hrs of prime 95.

---
I have i have a stability hole from about 320-350 FSB where the machine wont post at all.
At 350 FSB i can post and begin to get into windows but hangs at the loading screen (blue scrolling bar)

When im at 350 FSB my settings/changes were
  • Multi:8 and 9
VCORE: 1.3 to 1.4 (tried settings in between)
    NBV: 1.45
    FSB VTT: 1.45
    Timing: 5-5-5-16;
    Memory: 400-500mhz
    DDRV: 2.3-2.325v
    unlinked/linked memory at various ratios

I have D-Tek Fuzion waterblock with a Thermochill 120.3PA radiator. Idle at 32c, i know this is high but i went with silent fans and my loop has two Ultras + the cpu in it.

  • System:
    Asus Striker Extreme: bios 1401
    Q6600 G0 stepping
    2x 1gb Patriot Viper DDR2 800
    2x BFG 8800 Ultras
    1.2kw PCP&C PSU
    Everything Watercooled

I have RMAed TWO Asus boards thinking the board was unable to reach 1333FSB and beyond. However after two board swaps, Two sets of 2gb ram, 1 system rebuild, 2 diffrent PCI-e Video cards, its either the CPU or im doing something wrong. Please help! 2.8ghz is pathetic for this setup. I've gone through everything i can think of.

I, by no means, think I'm an expert so if you think i missed something basic, please mention it as i may have overlooked something very very simple.

Welcome to AT forums!

First I recommend reading this recent thread on exactly your topic issue of overclocking the Striker Extreme with Q6600: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2139707&enterthread=y

Second - the cliff notes are that yes basically any motherboard based on the i680 chipset has ridiculous amount of FSB holes so overclocking the Q6600 takes a lot of patience to find out if your OC failed due to CPU limitation or motherboard limitation.

Here are some other links I found education on the Striker Extreme:

Good luck!
