I went to check Core Temp after upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (from Vista 64-bit) on a new Intel X25-M SSD, and my readings were a little strange:

Core Temp 32-bit Readings

It should list 3.33Ghz (370x9). Besides the O.S. and SSD upgrade, everything else in my system is the same. My Q6600 is definitely running at 3.33Ghz (confirmed in Real Temp). Can anyone explain the funky readings?

Well, have you checked with other programs to see if it's a bug with Core Temp?

you are always under EIST when there is no CPU load, which is like 90% of the time. your multiplier is six in this situation which explains the lower clock. if you load up a program that needs to get work done it will pop right up to 3.33. even momentarily loading firefox or a youtube should do it.

not sure why coretemp64 is giving you that odd multiplier. what multiplier does it give you when you are running at full speed?

That 3THz overclock will probably put you in the Genius book of World Records. That is a pretty cool bug though.

Yeah, I checked in Real Temp right away. It confirms that my CPU is running at 3.33GHz.

Even with the EIST function disabled in the BIOS? I never saw the multiplier drop in Core Temp when I was using Vista.

You know load temps are probably up in the kelvins.

Yeah, but I can't stop at 3THz; I've almost eliminated the CPU bottleneck in Bad Company 2!

use cpu-z. if it shows you running a 6x multiplier then EIST is working, whether it's enabled in the bios or not.

CPU-Z seems to be displaying everything properly. Here's what it shows:

I guess both versions of Core Temp were acting funny. EIST doesn't appear to be functioning, so all is as it should be. Thanks by the way, I like CPU-Z a lot better.

he uses real temp. his temps are fine. he was curious about the clock multiplier. did you read the thread (the title even)?

yeah his posting have core temp on them did you?

Yeah.

This is the whole point of his thread, so I guess this is the part you missed. He's not saying his temps are off. Lots of people have real temp/coretemp/speedfan installed on the same machine to verify their temps anyway. He put up screens of coretemp because that's the program reporting the high multi.

Yeah.

I was trying to help him as core temp is un-support not updated and doesn't give true temps. But yer to busy dotting I's and crossing tee's, maybe grow some hair on yer balls then comeback after puberty?
