This is an update to my thread ad http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=27&threadid=239044.

While 3D Mark is now stable, the Q3 Demo is not wanting to run for more than 7 or 8 minutes.

If you have the particular setup I have working - Win2K, Winfast Geforce DDR, K7 Pro with a Thunderbird, please just say you are in this thread.

I don't know why I am having so many stability problems. I'm going to loop 3d Mark overnight tonight to see if it is perfectly stable but that and UT appear to be so stable now after the Microsoft fix, anyone got a clue why in the hell Q3 is so unstable?

I'm not an expert and only skimmed the other posts, but have you installed the latest VIA 4in1 drivers?

Ok so is the system is completly stable in windows98 but not in windows 2000...right???

Are yu using Nvidia reference drivers for yur DDR???
I would go to 5.xx drivers for now. Just to try to eliminate any driver problems.

Try taking out the Vortex2 or update it with the newest aureal reference drivers as well. There was alot of problems with the vortex cards so i can see why yu want to change to a live. But the newest drivers should fix the problems.

Just wondering if yu have tried another stick of ram???

My post will probably be of no use if windows 2000 is the problem.

the k7Pro board is a weird board. i say start by moving some of your PCI cards into different slots. make sure you are not sharing any IRQs anymore. you can always hit the "pause" key in bootup when you see your device assignments before the OS loads.
i think PCI slot #2 and #3 share IRQs. if i remember correctly my friend's K7PRO that i fixed last night--he was having IRQ conflicts and IRQ sharing problems.

Tulkas -

The RAM is fine. It was used in a BX board for months; and then used on this system in Win98 for a while.

This motherboard is starting to piss me off...everything is on IRQ 10 or 11, even with ACPI off. Except the DIE controllers, etc
