I'm wondering if anyone here knows verizon's rules and how EXACTLY I should go about my situation...

A few months ago I bought a Droid 2 locally off craigslist. It was $220 and in pristine shape with box and all. Never a problem with activation and the ESN was clear. All good and love the Droid 2.

Now fast forward 2 months later...

I'm up for contract renewal. Even though I don't ~need~ a new phone, I went and got one from tigerdirect.com for $56. A Droid Incredible.

My problem is that I really don't want to keep the Droid Incredible. I really have no need for it but was wanting to take advantage of being up for renewing.

Can I sell the phone without ever using it? Do I have to use it for a couple days and then re-activate my Droid 2 and tell verizon I don't like the incredible?

In the letter I got from TigerDirect the phone is shipped to me deactivated and should arrive tomorrow.

If you return it you can get your upgrade back though.

Depends what is worth more to you I guess. You may want to notify customer service that you sold it though just as a courtesy for whoever buys it.

Well I didn't know if the phone would be tied to my account.

That is why I thought I might have to activate it then switch back.

No you don't have to activate it. However if someone else tries to - it might be flagged for your account and cause an issue. Not 100% sure. But people sell phones all the time so a quick CS call should make it hassle free for the buyer.
