Just curious.
Is fiber optic cable used for the connection intercontinental?
If so, does it mean that there are cables under the Atlantic Ocean between America and Europe, or under the Pacific Ocean America and Asia?
Thanks.

All of the above?

I believe that they just redid the transcontinental line going to australia.

And yes most of it is just huge protected wires under the ocean.

I believe they use subs.. one or two.. one to dig a small hole, and one to lay cable... and there is most likely a ship on the surface that carries cable, and feeds it to the subs. They are either manned, or remote controlled.. most likely remote controlled.

It seems that both fiber optic cables and satellites are used for transcontinental network.
But which one was used first? And nowadays which one is used commonly?

Thanks again.
