Anyone using the Q-fan control? I can enable in bios, reboot and the bios as well as Windows shows my CPU fan jumping from around -45000 RPM to 90000 RPM! Also, hardware monitor in bios hangs a little when moving through fields until I disable Q-fan and reboot. I also have a strange LAN problem. When I first installed board, I had no network connection. After trying for hours, I returned the board for a new one and all has been well except sometimes Windows will flash a "network cable unplugged" message for a second or two and then all works again. This on-off thing will continue sometimes for hours then quit. Any suggestions? My provider says all their tests show system OK. Thanks! (Board is Asus P4C800 Deluxe).

I have one experience with epox Athlon mb, if i unplug the fan senser. then it will be no problem. I think either the fan or that fan speed detection is wrong.

... "network cable unplugged" message ...
no sure about this one. Is your computer connect to a cable moderm or with a network (swith/ router)?
many be the your provider automatically log off when idle?
check the cable,
may be get a FAR network card to test it out.

Q-Fan lowers the voltage by increments on the CPU_FAN header when the CPU is not very hot. This slows down the fan, and results in less noise. If the CPU temperature exceeds a certain level, the motherboard will begin to increment the fan speed higher until the CPU temperature drops (or the fan reaches full speed again).

Because Pentium4s already have voltage-controlled fans on their retail heatsinks, you should not add another layer of voltage control, so leave Q-Fan turned off if you have a retail Intel heatsink/fan unit. The reason its RPM readings are strange is that it is turning so slowly that the motherboard cannot make sense of the signal anymore.

I don't know what to say about the network-disconnection thing. Check your rear panel to ensure that the springy contacts surrounding the ports are not getting into the ports or anything, and make sure that your cables are fully seated. Welcome to the Forums, hope that helps :)
