Q: Expected Behavior?

Is it normal for this card to beep and audibly increase fan speed during heavy gaming sessions? Is the beep a sign that it's overheating or is that expected?

I don't know because it isn't do it when I had my x800xt pe, but it does sounds resonable for the video card to speed up its fan to keep the temparture in control.

do you use any tools like ati tray tools or ati tool ?

Btw. my x850XT never beeped....the only issue is with certain 3rd party tools (ati tool etc.) and the fan-control, some older programs have a wrong setting and cause the fan-motor a very high pitched whine...but a beep in that sense i wouldnt even know where it should come from.

And yeah..since the 850's fan is temp controlled....the fan spins up the more load you put on the card (gaming)....anyway with "ati tray tools" you have a load of options for fan-speeds..in my case the max. percentage i apply to the fan (with ati tray tools) is 59% (100% speed is just extremely loud)

Well, with the increase in fan that sounds right with the video card heating up. As for the beep... are you pressing too many buttons on your keyboard when you're gaming. A keyboard can only do 4 buttons simultaneously at once, and any more will make a beep.

I'm pretty sure its not the keyboard, since the beep always coincides with the increase in fan speed. Also, I was not using any 3rd party software to monitor or control the card. No one else has ever had their card beep or heard of it before?
