Q: Dial-up Networking problem

My mother's computer can no longer access the Internet. I have tried
three different Dial-up ISPs (Juno, Netzero, and my own) and get similar
results from all three. The modem will connect and either hang up almost
immediately, or will act like its connecting to the server, and then will
hang without getting anything in the Recv window. Netzero sometimes gives
an additional error about PPP connection not being established.

I first put on the Netzero, becuase my little brother decided to upgrade
the system to a newer version of Juno, and that's when the problems started.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling TCP/IP, but that didn't seem to
refresh the files (I may have to manually delete them next time).

I'm looking for any advice or troubleshooting tips that might help me
figure out what is going on.

Normally I've very good at these things, it seems that only when
dealing with relatives do I really get stumped 🙁

Hmm, good suggestion. One of the things I should have been thinking of when
I started looking to reinstall everything.

if that doesn't work, try another modem
if that doesn't work, format and try the old modem
if that doesn't work, format and try the new modem

lol
sounds extreme but it would probably fix it

later
