Q 'bout using computer as a fax machine

Okay, I know this is gonna sound dumb, but does my computer have to be hooked up to a phone line to send faxes (I don't care 'bout receiving)? Can I use some sort of fax service to send faxes using my DSL connection?

There are dozens of services that will offer outgoing-Fax transmission via Internet... "for a nominal fee".. 🙂

Poke around on yahoo.com: I'd begin by searching for "outgoing fax internet".

Some of these services use custom software that you must download and install. Other services allow you to upload Word and Excel files directly to a service to be faxed.
