Q: Athlon 64 Mobile

while they are only shipping to OEMs(from what i'v read) i havnt found to much info on the Oakville based A64 mobiles themselves. does anybody know the cache size of the oakville? is it 512 like the newcastle? or because its a mobile the cache is increased(or rather 'not decresed') to 1mb?

iv seen a roadmap but they dont have cache size listed. im wondering about the overclockabilty of the new mobile and the new dfi board... and if it would be anything like the nf7 & xp-m combo.

i thought they were just newcsatles that they made on 90 nm that used less power so were labeled mobiles. don't quote me though. if you want the best overclocking chips wait till the next set of revieions are released and the 90 nm process has matured

ok, i KIND OF found the answer, its just that, x-bits labs is confusing and or needs to go back to english class.

So far AMD supplied Mobile Athlon 64 processors at 1.60GHz ? 2.20GHz frequency and with 1MB of level-two cache with TDP of 62W as well as Low Power Athlon 64 products with 35W thermal envelope clocked at 1.60GHz ? 1.80GHz and equipped with 512KB of L2 cache. AMD said its 90nm mobile products belong to the Low Power line. Mobile Athlon 64 products are compatible with Socket 754 infrastructure.

so does this mean mobiles have 512kb of cache? im assuming yes.

what kick ass chip im looking for is a DTR mobile. but it seems that AMD is only making low power mobiles, which means something like 1.2-1.4 volts and only 512kb of cache.

sadly, the days of 1mb cache for 754 are probably over 🙁
