Maybe you've had a bad experience or didn't get what you wanted out of it. Personally I'd recommend active duty over guard or reserves, but thats just me.

One of the best things you can do for yourself.
 
My brother-in-law was in the Army, he spent about a year in Afghanistan, he's back home now, going into the National Guard.

Some other branches would say ANG > AF 😉

Anyway, my father was a career Army man, and I was in Army ROTC for a year in college. Wasn't for me, I got out. I got to keep the boots and PT gear though. wewt!
 
Yes, currently in WIANG. Army National Guard, Wisconsin. 7 years so far in Guard. I enjoy it or I wouln't still be in. 16 years total so far.
 
National Guard is seeing a lot more action these days. I worked on Fort Hood and met a few former guardsmen who switched to active duty.
