Phi Theta Kappa member here... was a big deal to me to become one while I was in college, but I don't know why. It doesn't prove anything.
Same, Never really did anything for me.

Thats because to get anything out of it you have to be an active member.

phi beta kappa is the only one worth joining, and even that has questionable value. if you're good enough to get PBK your record will speak for itself. then again if you get PBK and your record sucks then it's not like PBK will help you.

AOA for medicine is quite important though.

The $80 a spent to join PTK has been more than worth it.

Yes and if you like getting offers for PTK credit cards you will love it!!

digitalsm: So what did you actually get out of it (besides the trips). They always said that you get what you make of it but i never understood exactly what that meant. I just signed up becasue i thought it would look good on my resume.

APhiO >>> all. Service above self. I don't care if you're some pre-biz or professional frat, but service should be the highest.

I'll be getting a scholarship in March. Probably another when I transfer next fall. Ive also been recruited by both Cornell and Columbia. Not bad for a high school dropout.

sorry but something that any guy off the street can buy into for 50 bucks is not my idea of an honor.

Eh, really only ~5% of JuCo/CC students are eligible to join.

I was when I was in school, never really made use of it although I TRIED as much as I could. Work and school schedule took priority, then work so PTK fell behind.
