Does anyone here prefer pop3 e-mail vs. http e-mail and why? Thanks now and later 🙂

I hate http e-mail.

Pop lets me check it using other software, and it just pops up.

I hate logging in to http email, its just a waste. Why do that when I can just open up outlook and let it download all my messages.

pop3... i hate loggin into a website to check email. Even on cable it's slow. With pop3, i can have icq check, or just minimize outlook and have it check every few mins.

Okay t60 & Moralpanic, I see your points, but I should have added that I can check both versions via Outlook 2002/XP. The reason I made this thread is because MSN is trying to make me use http mail via Outlook instead of pop3 mail via Outlook which I was happy w/ 😕

pop3 >> http

http email is slow and cumbersome (yes even on broadband) . the interface sucks and i have more control with an email program.

POP3 > IMAP > HTTP

I'd rather have it stored on my computer... and I hate getting those fricking "Your mailbox is over its size limit" messages on my IMAP account.

I just prefer POP3. I really like Mutt, which I don't think can access HTTP mail. I'm not sure. I also like having everything stored on my drive. I have like 100MB of email from as far back as 1998.

POP all the way

i have hotmail & school pop mail, and i'm dreading the day it expires (POP) because i have an awesome spam filter which hotmail cannot support, even though i use outlook xpress for both of them :-(

I like to have access to all my mails from EVERYwhere. 🙂

MSN Hotmail, I like how it instantly tells me new email in my Messenger.

I realize this isn't a new or great feature, but whatever.
