Q about new tv models

Hopeless

I was thinking that tv makers release new models every year. If that is so or if it's longer between updates when do most start releasing them?

It depends on the market. Right now the tv manufacturers have a problem. Many people have bought LCD tv and do not need another one so they have to come up with something new to make people want to give up what they already have to buy a new one. The problem is that there really isn't anything that has been added to LCD tech that makes everyone want to give up what they already have. They tried hard at CES to promote new ideas but I saw nothing that would make me or my friends toss out the 42 inch LCD they already have.

If they get something that people are really crazy for then they release as soon as the design is ready, if not they just keep producing current models to replace failed or broken sets.

I've been looking into the panny plasmas. Now that CES is going, it got me wondering if there was a typical time that manufacters started actually putting out newer models.

Not neccesarily the best of the best, but as things progress the higher end models get newer features & the "older" features trickle down the product line kind of thing.

Along with thinking that as newer ones start coming out, stores might drop prices on the older ones to get them out of inventory.
