Pyro BasicDV vs. Pyro DV 1394

Is there any difference between the Pyro BasicDV and the Pyro DV 1394? I know that the BasicDV is cheaper. My concern is that the cards might be different, is this true? are the cards exactly the same and just the software is just different? I ask because someone told me that the BasicDV card is 1394 while the DV 1394 is 1394a.
