Yeah, while technically, this isn't a programming question, it relates to mostly programmers and the like.

Have any of you guys/gals ever had that much drama before ?
Cliff note version:
Girl hears something she didn't like/(understand the context--had to do with forking and dongles?).
Someone gets canned.
DDos attacks supposedly start.
Girl then gets canned.

This is what happens when you publicly chastise someone when it could have been handled in private.

The lady has a history of being an ass:

http://amandablumwords.wordpress.com/2013/03/21/3/+

Multiple past instances of blowing things out of proportion for attention.

Oh and she is also a complete racist:

and a lunatic:

I can't imagine another technology firm hiring her as a tech evangelist. Who would want to work with her at this point?

Let's just say that I Googled her, and decided she was not the person I wanted sitting in front of me when I made a crude, sexist, mysogynistic joke.

I'm actually glad she got fired. I loathe people who get offended so easily over sexist remarks. Talking about rape and gender stereotypes in a public setting is a no-no, but the original "forking" joke was completely tame. Also, if she had an issue she could of confronted them in private, instead of starting a public witchhunt. Her previous tweets make her sound nuts and don't help to defend her "point of view" in the argument.

Hope she ends up in call support!

Adria Richards engaged in malicious conduct to destroy the another individual’s professional career due to what she perceived as an affront to her own extremist views from a comment that was not directed at her, not meant for her to hear, and certainly not for her to provide unwarranted input on. As such, she should have her professional career destroyed just like her victim in order for justice to be rendered and balance restored to the universe.

I agree.

If you don't like someone tell it to his face and not on social media. She is a coward and a manipulating one too. taking a picture with the intention of putting it online, that's borderline sociopath style.

100% agreed. I also just saw her (unflattering) picture with all the OS/logos behind her. Horse kick much?

She's a rather unpleasant person. I don't say that often, but she's the reason businesses are scared to hire women.

Nobody will want to work with her ever. Any firm she be a 'developer evangelist for' will look her up, find all this hate she spews, and let off a harmonious "NOPE". She's done. Her only audience will be her deluded fembot followers who will continue to support her.

This girl may feel righteous to her grave.

Thing is, the joke had nothing to do with sexism, was not sexist, and in no way implied that women were in any way inferior to men.

But from this blog post it becomes clear why she did it - it has less to do with a genuine desire to improve things in the workplace for women, and more to do with her selfish desire to be noticed as a mover and shaker. She essentially used these two poor guys for some free press.

This could easily have been two women making such jokes. Women are not above making crude jokes, it just depends on the woman. She took advantage of the fact that the jokes happened to be sexual.

I think she is a pretty cold and calculating woman, who paradoxically is not the sort of woman that womankind would want for a champion. She isnt in it for them, she is in it for her. I am so glad she got fired, I really hope she never works in IT again and is reduced to flipping burgers.

That sure escalated quickly. I'm not sure the punishments fit the crimes in both cases (firing in one case, and firing + public crucifixion in the other). Though I have less sympathy for the woman. She could have handled the situation much better, complaining to the organizers only, or what I would have done if I were offended - simply tell the guys it's not nice and to drop it. But taking a picture of them without disclosing the intended usage, and then blowing it up in press, she was just looking for media attention. She deserves most of what rained on her.

What she did was stupid but how both their employers handled it was even worse. Jesus!

that's some straight up delicious drama right there.

read some of the links in this thread and honestly that woman comes off as a feminazi.
I remember reading a study a couple of months ago that concluded that the majority of women prefer working with men because women in the workplace equals more drama, and this pretty much falls right in line with that sentiment.

OK, after looking at this...

All I can say is, why did they even hire her in the first place ?

Heh, so she's a massive hypocrite, too. I must say, whoever dug up the dongle joke from the superbowl commercial is the winner of the game.

The Indian dude in the above photo is not racist or a Nazi, the Swastika was a part of their culture way before Hitler. The dude is doing no justice to the cause by using that photo!

I have no problems with the tweet taking offence to the mildly sexualized jokes.

The included photo was out of line.

The firing of the developer was silly.

I find the backlash directed at Adria to be insanely offensive and sexist. (She should be raped? Seriously?)

Adria's firing is completely non-sensical.

Adria seems like a huge hypocrit based on her historical tweets.
