Dell. Boo. They are rude, their customer service has gone in the toilet, and they charge tax when they don't have a presence in my state! Forcing me to pay tax when they don't even have to is a HUGE no no for me. No more Dells for me.

Not a bad deal I guess but still. My 17" is 1920x1200, 10" more screen space at the same resolution might not be to pleasing for me.

Yep, been looking for something to replace my 22" (1680 x 1050). With 1920 x 1080, the view gets wider but not taller. :\

Yes it does. It is taller by 30 pixels :p

I don't like this 1080p craze. I prefer 16x10. No reason for me to upgrade my LCD unless I can get at least 1920x1200 since I'm at 1680x1050 just as you are.

That, and I <3 my MVA (or is it PVA?) panel in my VX2025wm and wouldn't trade it for a TN panel, forget that.

There's a ton more real-estate on the 27@16:9 than a 22@16:10

Pixels are not always your limiting factor, IMO the average user can not see text as small as a 2560 x 1440 27" LCD can produce -- I have my fonts on the U2711 typically set around 12, whereas when I use my 22" 15:10 attached to my laptop I can go to 9

I know there is more. On the sides. That's not where I want it all. 1920x1200 would be perfect. 1920x1080 is not much of an upgrade from 1680x1050 for me because I want to extend both vertically and horizontally, not horizontally only.

And just physically bigger without the increased resolution, while better on the eyes I'm sure, is still not a good enough selling point for me :p

I have a 22" dell at 1680x1050 sitting next to my 27" and my 15" laptop screen at 1920x1080

the 27 is, by far and away, the most useful after that the 22 then the laptop Yes, even though the laptop has more pixels it is no where near as useful as the 22..... If I didn't have 27's already I would I would snatch it up a couple for a stop gap until I could swing a pair of 30" 2560x1600 beasts.

Save the money for 30", you won't want anything else. I saved enough for 3 Dell 30"s. It took a while but for my aging eyes, they are well worth the price. This RGB 17" 1920x1200 is also very nice and easy on my eyes. It's my M17xR2 gaming laptop.

That sounds awesome. I'll probably upgrade to the u3011's when I see the prices start to creep down and/or the competition starts to produce similar units. a 17" lappy is too big to easily haul around, but it would be nice.
