PWNED by power surge...

some kind of power surge in my house pwned me..

It mainly destroyed transformers in various appliances and electronics, like the gas heater, fluorescent light ballasts, etc.

anyway, a few of these transformers are the kind thats a big box you plug directly into wall (and hogs up the whole outlet) which are typically used to power low voltage components like a router for example are blown out as well. Is there an easy, cheap way to replace these besides trying to get specific replacements from the companies that make these particular components? I was thinking I could just match the specs of the transformer with some generic models out there and buy that instead?
