Mozilla Firefox was exploited four times with zero-day attacks launched by security researchers attending the annual Pwn2own hacking contest, making it one of the least secure popular web browsers.

While the other three major web browsers - Google's Chrome, Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) and Apple's Safari - were all exploited as part of the competition, along with the software application Adobe Flash, Firefox saw three takedowns on the first day and another on the second, making it the most exploited web browser of the bunch.

Thanks for the post. I guess the more they find the more they can fix...

did i read it correctly that they didn't exploit Java or didn't have time to?

There was only 1 attempt at Java, but, they withdrew that attempt, so, nobody else had submitted any exploits for Java, because the lack of time.

Cuz it goes without saying, Java needs to die as a security standpoint! I just discovered malware on a system that reported in programs and features that 7.0 update 51 was installed but the control panel wouldn't open and upon uninstallation it turned out to be 7.0 update 16! Flash and Java need to go byebye.

Where is that quote in any of the articles? Where did you lift that from?

A few days after the story there was a patch for Firefox. I need to read the patch notes.

I use Google for general browsing but when I am gaming and need to fire up a browser I use FF with noscript because I like to have as few processes running while playing a game....
