***update*** BIOS update to rev 1017 for ASUS A8V deluxe motherboard fixed*****
I am trying to install a hauppauge pvr-500 pci tv tuner card. however i am unable to even get into the operating system with the card installed! When the card is installed the system posts, but then instead of booting from the HD the machine locks up. screen is frozen, numlock is frozen (keyboard frozen)
I've tried 2 different video cards and different pci slots with the same results. without the tv card in the machine boots normally.
i suspect it is an issue with the way the bios recognizes the pci device (as opposed to a hardware problem) - anyone have advice?

after further searching it seems that it might be a compatibility issue between the motherboard (asus a8v deluxe) and the card - specifically the VIA drivers. I will try updating to the latest bios and change some bios settings and update.
