Thanks everyone for your help on choosing my Logitech i-feel optical mouseman (on clearance at OD for $35.88). So far I'm loving it, especially the comfortable shape of the mouse. And of course, there's that clue blue light that glows through the Logitech logo. :)

The only problem now is that I have a laptop computer (a Micron Transport XKE) and the screen turns off after a few minutes until I touch the laptop's touch pad or press a key on the keyboard. For some reason the power management is not recognizing the mouse movements. I can't figure it out as I've turned off the power management in Windows 98 and my laptop's BIOS settings. I've also turned off the screen saver.

Anyone face this problem before?

BTW, I'm wondering whether this has to do with the fact that the mouse is plugged into the USB port, as I don't recall having this problem when I was using the Microsoft Optical wheel mouse through the PS/2 port. I only used the MS mouse for a few minutes before deciding to return it so this may not be the issue.

I have no idea what the problem is, but why don't you use the USB->PS2 connector and see if the problem goes away?

I'll have to go get a USB->PS/2 adapter (the Logitech mousemand did not come with one) to try it out, but that sounds like a good idea. The only concern I have is whether the mouse can get sufficient power through the PS/2 port considering it has the "i-feel" vibration and optical sensor.
