Well after throwing in a Radeon 32 DDR (in fact an LE, but running happily @ 180/180 for a while now), and upgrading my system together with a clean install of Win2k and a few tweaks I decided to bench Q3.
I used Q3Bench (which is a great tool, just runs vanillia demo runs based on 1.17 using basic config files).

Crucial CAS2 PC133 256MB RAM
ATi Radeon 32MB DDR w/ Latest Drivers @ 180/180 tweaked w/ RadeonTweaker
Well in summary this is what I came up with:
NORMAL Configuration File Settings:
(800x600) 72.7, 72.9, AVERAGE FPS: 72.80
(1024x768) 58.1, 58.0, AVERAGE FPS: 58.05
MAX Configuration File Settings:
(800x600) 66.8, 66.9, AVERAGE FPS: 66.85
(1024x768) 54.3, 54.3, AVERAGE FPS: 54.30
As you can see I tried 800, 1024 at normal and max settings. I was scratching my head then I checked Sharkys benchmarks which show well over those shown above (about 100 for 800x600 and 80 for 1024) using the same processor and card. Albet on 98SE but it shouldn't be that different.
Now I have everything the way I want it, the machine flies along for everything and I really have no complaints. Just wondering what is up with the figures and if anyone has any ideas. Radeon owners what sort of numbers are you getting here?
