Putty, vim on unix

Hi I'm connecting to a Unix server using Putty, with a VIM environment for coding and editing.

Although, when I colorset the variable (inside .vimrc) to template.vim (which contains the config for syntax colouring), it doesn't seem to show like the screenshot from where I got it from. Which leads me to believe Putty is enforcing it's colours on it, so clashes. Is there anyway to overcome this?

Thanks for any replies.
