PuTTY typing interrupted

When using PuTTY, often whatever command I am in the middle of entering will be broken when the server sends some text, forcing me to retype the command. Is there some way to stop this from happening, or some other client that doesn't have this problem?

I've been having this problem recently with DartMUD

Try turning on local echo and local line editing.

It sounds like there is a program on the server that is sending out some kind of broadcast. I would try to find what that program is and reconfigure it so it writes that to a log file or something.

What is the nature of the text that keeps interrupting you, is it always the same thing? Like is it some kind of informational message, or just garbage?
