I'm throwing together a form factor PC for a collegue that needs more performance than his laptop can offer. His programming in excel is overloading the thing!
He's running a P4 2.4 with 1GB RAM, and it's not enough. I don't think more RAM will help, I think he needs a faster CPU. I'm going AMD64, but not sure about a couple things.
From what I can tell, he's not impacting the RAM, so 1GB should be fine. My question is, do you think a faster harddrive will help? I haven't checked to see what he's running right now because I think it's mostly bottlenecked by the CPU, but I was thinking a Raptor might help. Any thoughts?
