I put in my K7 1.33, HSF, Video Card, and ram. I'm using an EPOx-8K7A mobo. What should I set the jumpers to? (I have more questions, which will be posted as each step gets completed)

if it's a 266Mhz FSB and you have PC2100 make sure to set the JCLK1 jumper to the 133 Mhz setting.

yea...if you want to run at default speed, set the fsb to 133 MHz and the multiplier to 10x...good luck!!!

no, you should not need to mess with other jumpers for clock speed and voltage, unless you plan to oc. It will auto detect the multiplier with the default jumper settings.

What's it say in the manual? That's why they wrote them - crappy as they can be sometimes they serve just this purpose. It's also downloadable in case you didn't get one with your board.

Set it to 10x, booted up at 1.33. Have my Ati Radeon in place, DVD Drive, Floppy, and IBM 40gig HD. I disabled the AC97 sound card via bios. (What i didnt' put in yet is a RICOH 7060a CDRW, Modem, and Yamaha Sound Card) Right now I need to get my Hard drive working. What i did (and i guess i was wrong) was boot up from floppy and instal MSDOS, then boot from DVD drive and install win98, then did fat32, then defragged. Then I realized that i only have 2gigs. What do I have to do to get my 40gig back and get it to run normally??

if u wish, u can IM me via Instant messenger for faster conversation. my SN is also Xenon14.

I'm taking a wild stab in the dark here, but I would say its because you did the MSDOS install. If I remember correctly, DOS only supports 2gig partitions, so when you installed that, it auto-defaulted to 2 gigs

as for what you can do about it, I have no clue. I'm sure someone out there knows though.

For the hard drive, I would just format it clean and start over. You don't need to install dos since it comes with win98. Just boot off the Win 98 cd and it will take you through every thing you need to do.

Xenon14, a suggestion to build on what Ben50 said, and that is to fdisk and format, then make a folder on your C: drive titled Win98. Then copy the entire contents of the Win98 folder from your Windwos 98 distribution CD, and run the setup.exe program from your hard drive, not the CD. This way when you make changes to your system you won't have to hunt for the CD, as Windows will know the location of the install files and find what it needs from the Win98 folder on your hard drive.
