I currently have the PC in my sig, and a 26" Olevia LCD TV. I'm thinking about selling the TV and using the money to buy a 360 Arcade and the 20gb hdd upgrade and then buying a TV Tuner for my PC. I have 2 19" LCDs for my PC, both with DVI & VGA ports so the interfacing wouldn't be a problem, and the screen res is nice at 1680x1050.

Would this work:

Sell:
26" Olevia LCD TV

Buy:
Xbox 360 Arcade
20GB 360 HDD
TV Tuner

In the end it should come out as not costing me anything. With that in mind, can anyone recommend me a decent TV Tuner?

And yes, I double posted in General Hardware, but it's been there for a day and I've gotten nothing.

What kind of TV signal do you want to tune, i.e. analog OTA, digital OTA, analog cable, ClearQAM?

I have no idea what signal my school provides...from what I understand it's a satellite feed that is spread throughout the campus. What would that be?

Do you hook your TV directly to the campus cable? Or do they provide you some sort of cable box?

Without some sort of cable box / cable card, I don't think you can get HD on your monitor unless you can get OTA signals. I guess Popcorn Hour will allow you to get some HD channels that the cable feed may have available.

I would go with an HD tuner card and an over-the-air (OTA) antenna to get a few free HD channels...

Like these:

TUNER(S): Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800 HD tuner (internal PCIe 1X) = $95.00
or Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1950 Hybrid Video Recorder (External USB 2.0) - Retail = $131.99

HD OTA ANTENNA: Philips PHDTV1 Silver Sensor UHF/HDTV Digital Indoor TV Antenna = $24.99

With those tuners, you could probably hook your cable up to too and pick up a few analog channels from your dorm's cable system...
