A Toyota Echo is NOT expensive for a car. Is that the echo you were referring to?

Is the Rebel XT digital? I'm not up on Canon's line; I'm a dedicated Nikon man myself.

If he was going over jumps and driving quickly over really rough terrain, that would be dumb...but I'll withhold judgement unless I see pics. Americans seem to think that taking anything less than a lifted Jeep off the pavement causes it to instantly explode. I remember driving down a gravel road on my way to a state park in my Celica, and passing all the SUVs who were going 15mph because they were worried about their suspension or something.

you should see the video then

the echo has: caught air, driven across bridges with .05" space on each side, had 1 wheel 2' off the ground while stuck, gone through some DAMN rough trails, etc. the video is hilarious, but stupidly large w/o conversion and needs to be found again.

Speaking as a guy who pounded his Prelude into the ground at a gravel pit I must see this video.
