Putting posters up on the wall without damage.. suggestions?

I've used those poster putty things before and after a while.. they leave a oily stain on the poster and the wall. I think regular tape is going to rip the paint off, and will not come off the posters (when i take them down) easily. I have those matte, smooth powdery paint on drywall here, and I had better not not to staple, drill or otherwise damage it. Right now I'm thinking masking tape might work, but it's pretty ugly, unless I make those loops and stick them in the back. But then I'm worried that masking tape when left on the wall too long, may rip the paint off too. Any suggestions? preferably cheap to free suggestions..

thanks!

I frame all my posters since nothing at all will stick to my wallpaper....I just buy those 9.99 frames/plastic cover sheet sets at walmart and hang them up that way.

everything you put on will do some kind of dmg. if u want no dmg, then put the poster in a picture frame and just lean it against the wall

Have you been to a place like Office Depot and tried the poster hangers that they sell there? They are little square tabs with both sides being a poster safe sticky stuff. I use them on the drywall in my room and they work great.. no damage to the poster or the wall. The come in packs of 20 usually.. lots of different sizes.

Try them.

At Meijer there are these cool pull tabs that are real strong. To remove you pull this part and it comes off leaving nothign behind.

Buy a thin plastic "rail" that both the top and bottom edges of the poster slide in to; that will protect the poster. Use those pull tabs that Dually just mentioned to secure it.

Just use a few thumbtacks if you'd like, those tiny holes are super easy to fill when you move out.
