I planned on running my computer to my TV downstairs to play netflix etc...

I bought a 50' S video cable..but then realized..where is the audio coming from...rofl..

I have a mobo with built in sound..

S-Video = just picture without sound right?

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion 70SB046A00003 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card - Retail

would handle the output from my computer to my TV right?

Either the Creative or your onboard sound will do the job. Simply get a 50' run of audio cable with RCA stereo ends and get an adapter for the end that plugs into the front channels for your PC. Keep in mind that your video and audio quality won't be the greatest but if you're not too picky it'll work. I have to wonder though, how do you plan on interfacing with your PC? Are you going to get an RF remote that'll interface with your PC?

NSA basically I wouldn't have any interfacing except the mouse and keyboard (Which realistically I'd push "play" and then run downstairs lol)

I'm leaning toward the X-Fi just because its 60 bucks refurbed...

Well its not too expensive, but I doubt you'll hear any difference in sound quality. I'd just stick with the onboard sound unless it turns out that it sounds terrible. Most modern boards have pretty decent sound.

We'll I got the Xi-Fi anyways (Just needed an excuse to pull the trigger)

So in terms of picture and sound, S-Video out from my 8800GTS and a SPDI out from my x-fi to the TV= sound and picture right?

Should be pretty good quality?

I assume he means streaming NetFlix.

The S-Video is going to be a fairly low quality video signal. What sort of TV do you have? If it's an old CRT, that's probably the best you're going to do, but if it's an HDTV, the picture quality will be fairly horrid. Might be worth it to upgrade to a DVI -> DVI or DVI -> HDMI connection (although 50 feet is a fairly long run; you're probably going to see some signal degradation at that length, and it's more noticeable in digital when the picture keeps blinking in and out).

Have you considered getting a small media center HTPC to use in conjunction with your home entertainment system so you don't have to hit play and then run through the house?

Yes,

I'm streaming netflix.

Can't built a real htpc right now. Its only going to one of those 240lb beasts of a Wega Flat screen CRT. So nothing HD or anything like that, 36" so probably won't notice the degradation.

Running S-video from my 8800 GTS----> TV

What kind of cable to run for audio?
