Putting more ram in a Laptop

Anyway, I have a toshiba Satellite 2800-S202 laptop. It comes with 128megs of memory default and I'm totaly new to laptops. Crucial says that my laptop has 1 bank of 1, which means it has 1 ram slot, but then the max memory is 384. So, since I only know of 258 sodimms, I'm guessing it has a non-removable 128 sodimm, and another free slot. Am I right? I don't want to order a stick and have nowhere to put it.

Plus, can you guys explain to me how to do it? I really don't want to mess up my laptop. An online guide with pictures would be nice. Thanks.

you are correct & for max memory you'll need a 256 Mb stick.
with most laptops you have to unscrew a screw at the bottom of the unit & open the cover which hides the extra ram slot. do you not have the owners manual which will show you exactly what to do?? 🙂

Ah yes, the manual. I moved recently and its packed away somewhere. But, I went into the abyss yesterday, and came back into the house all dusty and dirty holding the manual. Yea, thanks for the help guys.

I have a similar model. Its on the underside of the notebook. Be warned, the SODIMM will be a total b*tch to put in properly, and you'll swear youll break it.
