I want to change systems from my current one to a Duron 750 KT7 setup. I was wondering if I can just plug my existing hard drive into the new system? There are programs and stuff on it which I don't want to loose.

Thanks for your help

yes you can do that, but the only thing is, that you might have diff cards in your other computer, and the drivers stored on that HD might not run properly in your new computer... but you can run in safe mode and remove them, and install the right ones for your new system.

Everything else will be the same in this computer, I am only changing the mobo. CPU and case. The only thing I was really concerned with is any drivers for the mobo itself (the VIA drivers and the Asus hardware montioring being 2 of them).

You can try it, but it's usually recommended to reinstall your OS when changing mobos. (especially going from intel to AMD)

reinstalling OS is optional,

you can do the following instead,
boot into Safemode, goto Device Manger, REMOVE everything Except Network Adaptor and System Clock.
reboot and let windows reinstall everything,

for once I need to reinstall OS coz it crashed so hard that I can even get into safemode, but that case is an exception.
