I must be the only person on all of anandtech who has to ask this. But I got a new Touch last weekend and I have some videos I got off the internet that I want to put on there. I did a quick search before leaving for work this morning but both programs I downloaded prompted me to insert my OSX DVD and install (damn, I can't think of the name of the program right now..."clear" something I think).

Am I missing something or do I really need to dig out my disc?

Hmm.. weird, never had an OS X program ask me for my Install discs before.

I personally use VisualHub. It's $24, but I find the ease of use worth it.

If you want something similar, but free, you can grab iSquint. It's by the same people that do VisualHub, but it's just more of a toned down version.

Thanks. I need to go home and see what it prompted me to give it when it asked for the disk.

are you talking about converting video files to a format that you can watch on the ipod?

if so, i use ffmpegx. it's free. one of the preset format settings is called "ipod" or "iphone" or something like that. i've never had an issue with it or the videos.

I use Handbrake for DVDs.

Free and easy to use.

EDIT: I just realized you said downloaded videos... Handbrake won't work on those...
