Putting an IDE drive on to an SATA port

I'm moving to a new computer and using my old computers parts to build one for my wife. The question I have is should I buy an ATA to SATA gadget to get my old data over to the new computer or just put it on my wife's computer in addition to a new IDE I bought for her? It is an old 120GB Western Digital.

If I should not add it to the new system, what is a good program to move all my data such as favorites and cookies over to the new pc? Is it easy to just manually do it?

Use the old 120 as a slave on your system and use the new hdd for your system. After installation, get all the data you need from the old hdd. Check to make sure everything you need is there and working and then reformat the old hdd and use it in your wife's system. If your new mobo doesn't have an IDE, use either an IDE->SATA adapter or use a IDE->USB connector. Either or will work although the USB option is easier especially if you already have an external USB enclosure for the hdd.
