Putting an Antec power supply into a Dell Inspiron Desktop

I've heard that Dells have Proprietary PSUs in them, but there is a way to work around them. Including some adapters. What exactly would I need to put this PSU: Antec Truepower into a Dell Inspiron Desktop?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Are the new Dell Inspiron Desktops still have Proprietary PSUs in them anymore?

Dell has used standard power supply pinouts for several years now. Their very early Pentium 4 systems used a non-standard pinout, and those were the last of it. Generally the problems people have with installing a new supply in a modern Dell are related to physical fit issues; some Dells cannot handle a supply with an external power switch, for instance (unless you cut out some of the metal of the case).

Your link is inside-out.

Alright, thanks man. I'll fix the link too.
Btw, is it a significant amount of casework that I would have to perform if I had difficulty fitting the PSU into the case?

I have been told that for some models including the newer models Dell is still using Proprietary PSUs and parts!!

It would be best to call Dell or check the Dell website!!

Who told you so?

The newer Dells absolutely all use standard pinouts. In fact, Dell moved everything to standard BTX a few generations back; I believe they're migrating back toward ATX.

The worst incompatibility that might exist with a modern Dell would be physical fit issues.

If the issue is just the power switch, then that can be solved by removing some material with one of those "nibbler" tools, or (if you feel braver) removing the switch itself and voiding the PSU warranty. If you stumble into something really odd (I would take a good long look, and some measurements, before trying to replace the supply in one of the "slim" Dells), that could be harder to deal with.

As always, keep an eye on the fan position and how that might affect overall system ventilation.

You would be totally nieve to not call Dell and ask them.
Or for that matter totally nieve to believe that they in noway use proprietary parts at all in any other there recent computers!!

Why don't you provide some links? After all, if this is a complaint you have seen "over and over again", it shouldn't be that hard.
